When you need the handle

Finding someone on Instagram

Instagram search works on names, handles and hashtags. It can’t match a face, which is why people look elsewhere.

Does Instagram have a reverse image search?

No. Its search box only matches text such as usernames, names, places and tags. Searching a photo from your camera roll isn’t a feature, so you need a tool that compares faces across public pages.

How do I reverse image search an Instagram photo?

  1. Open the post or profile and take a screenshot. Instagram doesn’t let you save other people’s photos.
  2. Crop the screenshot to one face, leaving out the app’s buttons and captions.
  3. Upload it here to find other public pages where the same face appears.
  4. To find exact copies of the whole picture instead, an image search such as Google Lens also works.
  5. Open each match and compare names, handles and dates before you trust it.

Public accounts, private accounts and tagged photos

  • Public profiles can appear in results, including their posted photos.
  • Private accounts hide their photos, so a face search usually can’t reach them.
  • A private account’s owner may still show up if someone with a public account tagged them.
  • Photos reposted on blogs, fan pages or news sites can also lead you to a handle.

How do I confirm it’s the same person?

  1. Open the match and read the bio, handle and link in bio.
  2. Scroll their other photos. Is it the same face over several years and places?
  3. Check the followers and tags. Real accounts usually have friends tagging them.
  4. Be wary of a new account with few posts and a very polished feed.

How do I report a fake Instagram account?

  1. Open the profile and tap the three dots at the top.
  2. Choose Report, then pick the option about pretending to be someone.
  3. Say whether it’s you or someone you know, and follow the prompts.

Three taps. About thirty seconds.

Questions

Can I search Instagram with a photo?

Not inside Instagram itself. Our search looks at public pages across the web, and Instagram profiles that are public can appear in the results.

Will it find a private Instagram account?

Usually not. Private photos aren’t visible to the public web, but tagged or reposted public photos might still link to it.

Does the person get a notification?

No. We don’t contact anyone and we don’t log in to Instagram.

How does it work?

You upload a photo, and we search publicly available web pages for the same face. Each search is paid up front and shows every match with its link, its score and the site it’s on. If it finds no matches, you get your money back automatically.

What does it cost?

It’s $4.99 per search, 3 searches for $9.99, or 10 for $19.99. One-time payments, no subscription. If a search finds no matches, we refund what it cost, automatically. If it can’t run (no clear face), the search goes back on your account.

How accurate are the results?

Each match shows a similarity score. A high score means a very similar face, not a confirmed identity, so always verify before you act.

Do you store my photo?

Your full photo never leaves your device: only a crop around the face is sent, securely, to our search partner. We keep that crop with your private results so you can see which face was searched, and delete both after 48 hours.
